Every year from February to March there’s a special festival that takes place in South Florida known as The Florida Renaissance Festival. This year the well anticipated festival returns for it’s 26th season with even more surprises than last year. There will be a variety of acts and performances which are sure to entertain and please guests of all ages and transport them back in time to the 16th Century to the famous period in history known as the Renaissance.

The festival will run from February 10 through March 25 and will be held at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach every weekend on both Saturdays and Sundays. What makes the festival so unique and exciting is the fact that it offers seven different themed weekends to choose from such as: Swashbucklers and Sirens, Time Travelers/Steampunk, Vikings and Barbarians, Bodacious Bodices and Wenches, International Weekend, Kilts and Colleens, and last but not least: Witches, Warlocks, and all about Harry Potter. So whether you’re into pirates, history, or magic there’s a little bit of everything for your taste at the Renaissance Festival.

Besides the different themed weekends the festival also offers fun rides, games, and sports which test one’s physical strength such as archery and knife throwing along with amazing performances and shows like the jousting tournament, which is my personal favorite and a huge crowd pleaser! Plus, there is plenty of local vendors and artisans that sell everything from crafts to clothing to beautiful jewelry and more that you can take home with you. Last but not least, a visit to the Renaissance Festival is incomplete without sampling some of their delicious food and drinks that they have there. You will find a food stand to satisfy every taste bud ranging from turkey legs to greek gyros and even alligator!

So overall if you’re into history and/or anything fantasy related and want to do something really fun with your family or friends on the weekend then I highly recommend for you to check out the festival! Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for children ages 6 to 11 years of age and children ages 5 and younger get in for free.
