A little over two weeks ago, I had the privilege of taking another exciting cooking class with ICanCook Miami only this time it was a coaching, networking, and cooking class all-in-one! The name of the class was called “Recipes for Success” and it was taught by Life Coach, Speaker, and Business Consultant Raj Anderson who is originally from the United Kingdom. The purpose behind the class was to enhance people’s money mindset in order to create more abundance in their lives while creating a safe and comfortable environment for local business women to share their personal thoughts and opinions on the topic of money as well as network and connect with one another. Some of the questions that were addressed in the class were:

  • Are you comfortable talking about money?
  • What emotions come up for you when you think about money?
  • Do you know how the money mindset impacts your life?

I really loved the presentation by Raj Anderson because I learned a lot about the different Money limiting beliefs that hold people back from achieving financial success as well as self-development questions that people should be asking themselves in respect to money. The presentation was split into two parts so as soon as the first half of the presentation was over all of the women headed into the chef’s kitchen to begin the fun part of the night, Cooking!

The menu for the night included a mango salad, linguine, cavatelli, and grapefruit tart. One of the girls began by chopping the melons and mangos for the salad while the other one began chopping up the herbs and mushrooms for the pasta. Raj Anderson was in charge of making the dessert and the rest of the girls were in charge of prepping the pasta. What I absolutely loved about the pasta that we were using was that it was completely made from scratch and it wasn’t just something out of a box. It was pretty neat because we got to learn the technique behind creating the strips of pasta noodles by running it through a special machine along with how to stretch out and cut the pasta dough. It was a really fun hands on learning experience and I loved how everyone came together to help one another with the process.

After we finished prepping most of the food Chef Julia and Chef Mary took over the kitchen to complete the rest of the cooking and all of the girls headed back into the living room for the second part of the presentation. Raj had all of us sit at the dining table to discuss all of the questions from her power point slide in more detail. It was great because Raj set the tone for a safe, intimate, and non-judgmental environment for all of the woman to share their opinions about money, personal stories, and/or struggles and be real and present in the conversation. When the discussion finished she concluded with a few more slides and then it was time to eat!

The Chefs brought out the mango salad, pastas, freshly baked bread rolls, and even surprised us with some chicken which was not on the menu. Everything that I had that night from the pasta to the lean white meat chicken were absolutely delicious and tasted so fresh, hearty, and light and tasted just like a home cooked meal! My favorite dish was the mango salad because it was fresh, super healthy, and made with the most amazing (and addicting) chili lime vinaigrette ever!! It was so good that I even asked the Chef for the recipe and to my surprise she included it in our little gift bags to take home with us.

To finish off our amazing meal we each had a slice of the grapefruit tart which I was honestly very hesitant to try since I don’t like the taste of grapefruit. However, it wasn’t as sour as I was expecting and it actually tasted very good! I really liked the crust and what I think made it even better and balanced out the sour taste to it was the toasted marshmallow fluff on top which was honestly out of this world and reminded me a lot of meringue.

Overall, it was another successful and fun night with ICanCook Miami and I am so glad that I got to meet and network with some local business women while learning about the Money Mindset!
