About two weeks ago I had the opportunity to check out one of the latest Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants to open up in South Florida. The location that I am referring to is the one at The Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale that opened up just over a year and a half ago. For those of you who either live in the area or just love dining at Cooper’s Hawk in general then I highly suggest for you to check out this location! Not only is it practically brand new and super clean but it’s also located on the second floor of the mall and has nice window street views. Plus, the decor and ambiance is very simple and modern and they have a beautiful wine tasting room, shop, and display of wine barrels. Although there isn’t any outdoor dining available I liked the fact and felt very comfortable that it was not super packed for being a weekend (and lunch time) and that all of the staff had masks on and guests were sitting way more than six feet apart and the restaurant was very spacious.
Since I am currently pregnant at the moment I wasn’t able to enjoy some of their fine selections of wines like I usually do but my husband who was dining with me did get to taste three different wines and enjoy it in my place instead. He got to taste the Super Tuscan, Vin Noir, & Barrel Reserve red wines and I actually had a Hibiscus Tea mixed with Lemonade as suggested by our waitress which was actually really good and refreshing! To start off our meal they brought us their in house signature pretzel bread which is phenomenal (and one of my favorite breads ever!) with some butter and honey butter as per my request. It was so delicious, warm, and fresh as usual and my husband loved it immediately once he tried it.
For appetizers I ordered the Chicken Potstickers and the Thai Lettuce Wraps since I wanted something more on the lighter side. Both appetizers were really good and had lots of flavor to them and were super filling especially the Thai Lettuce Wraps which in my opinion can even be shared with up to four people because of its huge portion size. What I really loved the most though about the wraps was not only how fresh it was but the three different sauces that it comes with which is sesame ginger, cashew, and lime chili sauce that were also super flavorful and definitely made the dish even better! As for the dumplings it was steam fried perfectly and was super satisfying and I couldn’t recommend them enough especially if you’re a huge fan of them like I am!
For the main entrees my husband ordered the Churrasco Grilled Steak that comes with oven roasted vegetables and parmesan fries and I ordered the Chicken Madeira which comes with mushrooms, fontina, Mary’s potatoes (their in-house made mashed potatoes), and asparagus. I absolutely loved my dish because they served a generous portion of chicken breasts that were all very tender when you cut into it and they weren’t dry and was topped with the most addicting and delicious sauce and mushrooms. The asparagus and mashed potatoes were also really good but I wish the portion size was larger for the potatoes since it was really small in comparison to the chicken portion. As for my husbands dish we were honestly not too impressed with it since we’ve had better Churrasco steaks before.
We both found it to be very thin and dry and actually better tasting with the Chimichurri sauce than without it so I would definitely say to skip this dish and try another one instead. However, I do have to say that their parmesan fries were amazing and super savory but again it was a very small portion in comparison to the steak and the roasted vegetables were a bit over cooked for me. As for dessert we went with one of their most popular and guest favorites which is the Cooper’s Hawk Chocolate Cake that is made with Valrhona Chocolate, Hazelnut Ganache, and Vanilla Ice Cream! I would definitely say not to miss out on ordering this decadent, rich, and super moist cake because it is honestly without a doubt one of the best chocolate cakes out there! I promise if you try it you won’t be disappointed!!
Overall, my husband and I both had a really great and positive experience while dining during lunch time at the Cooper’s Hawk in The Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale and I would highly recommend this location to any one!
